VISAS, ETAs AND ENTERING GERMANY

It is important to read this section before booking your flight to Berlin. Entry requirements for Germany are in effect.

To check whether you need a visa, please visit Germany’s Federal Foreign Office website. It is recommended that you apply for a visa before confirming your travel arrangements.

The German embassy or consulate general (foreign missions) in the country where you live will process your visa application. There are entry requirements in effect for Germany that apply to all residents of the countries that are not part of the visa-waiver agreement program.

Please view the online application for Visitor Visas (if required). You can request a letter of invitation from the Conference Organizer for Visa purposes by filling in the necessary information when you complete your online registration. Please be sure to check with your nearest German Embassy or Consulate well in advance of travel to obtain the appropriate documentation.

How do I request a letter from IAF and ILAC for my Visa application?
When submitting your registration to attend the conference, you will be asked to enter more information if you require a Visa invitation. If you are not sure if you require a Visa to enter Germany, you can find a list of countries who are required to apply for a Visa here.

A letter of invitation is issued solely for the purpose of assisting participants with Visa applications. Such a letter does not imply any financial obligation on the part of IAF, ILAC or the conference organizers. IAF and ILAC cannot influence or intervene in decisions or requests regarding visas. IAF and ILAC will only issue letters of invitation for IAF and ILAC member organizations in good standing.

Please note – visa processing times vary from country to country and wait times can be lengthy. We strongly recommend you apply for a visa as soon as possible to avoid delays.

Visitors who require visas must provide these minimum requirements before they can be considered for entry into Germany:

-A signed passport that contains at least two blank pages, that has been issued in the last 10 years, and is valid for at least three months after your departure date.
